Two Months!

Baby girl Emadaie is two months old and as grown so much already. I thought this one was supposed to stay little forever!

We went for her two month check up today and is growing so fast! She is up to 10lbs, 8ozs and 23 inches long. She also had her first set of immunizations. a needle in each leg! It was rough on mommy but she did great! Hardly cried at all.

I'm amazed at how alert she is and how much she takes in from her environment. She's constantly following everyone around the room with her eyes and smiling and cooing at anyone who talks to her. Especially big brother Atticus. This one may be our most social baby yet! She's even starting to let little laughs out too. Can't wait for the full-on giggles! She still loves her gumdrop soother. Since she recently started grabbing at toys, her favorite ones are the penguin on her tummy time mat and the elephant on her bouncy chair. Her favorite time of the day is bath time. She loves to kick and flail her arms in the bath. And spend some one on one time with daddy.
A short video of her enjoying her bath....

We love having her as part of our family even if she is just along for the ride right now!

We are home from our absolutely fabulous trip to the city! Our original purpose was to go for Hadley's appointment at the Children's hospital (Will talk about that later on in the post.). But chose to get a hotel room and spend some of our tax return that was burning a hole in our pockets.

The kids needed summer clothes so we spent a lot of time in Carters and Old Navy. My back is killing me from wearing Emadaie everywhere so the rest of the kids could be in the stroller. But it's totally worth it. And made me realize how much I LOVE my wrap and wearing my baby. It leaves my hands free to deal with the other kids and drink a whole, entire coffee too! It's too bad I had not discovered this until my fourth baby. I tried to wear my first but he HATED being confined. And of course couldn't wear my twins for long. Oh how I wish I could have worn them both at the same time. Lugging around those two carseats sure got old quickly. Thank goodness for my double Snap n' Go! Which is for sale By the way....

Our trip felt almost freeing in a way.

We took a suitcase. That's all.

Everything else was left at home for the first time. We didn't take pack n' play's or portable high chairs this time as we usually do. I was hesitant. I swear to you, I almost ran back into the house and threw them into the van at the last second. But my hubby reassured me, the twins would do just fine in the hotel beds and sitting up at the table in regular chairs. And he was right. I think they ate and slept better than they do at home.

Hadley's CHEO appointment was fantastic. Her specialist is happy with her progress in terms of ER  visits and breathing issues since the last time we saw him. Her lungs and chest X-Ray were clear this time. So he decided to take her off her meds cold turkey and see how she does. We go back for a follow up in August. I hope she will do just fine over the spring and summer. My gut feeling tells me otherwise, unfortunately.

Did I mention that it was 29 degrees in Ottawa that day? Spring is here!

Here are some pictures from the hotel...

Times are a changin'!

Goodbye...

Goodbye to many things.

Goodbye Newborn clothes, socks, shoes, diapers, bassinet. Goodbye big diapers, cribs, potty's. Goodbye booster seat, nighttime diapers, preschool.

So many changes all at once. Packing away the newborn stuff today has me feeling nostalgic. It's silly because my baby is only 6 weeks old. Or maybe it's not so silly because she's not a newborn anymore. And I miss it. And everything that came along with it. Our family is entering a new stage of life. Most of my babies aren't babies anymore.

How quickly it goes amazes me. And I'm so sad about it. But at the same time, I'm loving life right now and looking forward to the next steps too.

Emadaie is already smiling, talking and cooing. Into the next size of clothes and diapers. And batting at toys. I love interacting with her and seeing her in little person clothes now rather than newborn stuff. I'm missing the early days already where she would sleep anywhere. But my favorite nights now are the ones when she just won't let me put her down in her own bed. And she insists on sleeping with me. I love to smell her sweet baby scent and see her sleepy face as I drift off to uncomfortable, broken sleep. But it's worth it. I know it won't last forever.

As in my post a few weeks ago, the twins are fully potty trained and use only the toilet now. The potty's have been packed away. (Except for the one in the van. for emergencies only of course.) And a few days ago we took the side of their cribs off to make them toddler beds. They`re so proud to sleep in their big girl beds!

Atticus was registered for JK starting in the fall. He got some work books from the school and is so excited to start at the "Big School". Coming from Alberta, I'm not used to the JK concept. I guess I'm still adjusting to the fact that he will be starting school earlier than anticipated. I'm so proud of my little boy for adjusting so well to preschool. And I know he will do great in JK as well.

I could sit still all day watching all the different ways my kids are discovering the world. It makes me so proud as a mom.

Pictures to come... camera is broken!
