Direction, finally!

HUGE news! We got our posting message finally! This has stirred up a huge rush of emotions that I can't describe in full. For starters, nervous, worried, delighted, Excited, confused, happy, sad... Pretty much everything all at once. I really didn't expect this process to be so emotional!

I was starting to think it would be another few months before we are posted somewhere and maybe  I could just enjoy the month of April. I had a bunch of appointments booked for the kids that month, The twins' first birthday party, Easter for the kids and Easter dinner with the family too. Chad's COS (Change of Strength, The date the military changes his file from his old job to his new one.) date is April 11th. I'm not sure exactly what that means yet in terms of our move date but Chad has a meeting about his posting on Monday.

I have already done the pre-registration on the IRP website (the relocation company) And they have lots of information on that site as well as lots of forms for us to fill out.

So I guess the thing I have to focus on the most right now is the twins' birthday party. It looks like the date of the party will have to be April 3rd. I was planning on having it later in the month so I would have lots of time to plan it out. And maybe there would be a slight chance Chad could make it. Well, that's not going to happen anymore. Now I really have to get going on party planning etc.

I have also started looking into all of the changes we have to make when it comes to switching provinces. There are lots!

Mostly I'm really excited to have some direction in our life. I'm not looking forward to leaving my extended family who have been there so much for me while Chad has been gone. This will be fantastic for our family though. And I can't wait for these changes to start happening. My head is just spinning with everything right now.

Daddy's visit

We had such a fantastic time with daddy while he was here. The visit was a little over a week long and was jam-packed with fun stuff. The kids and I really enjoyed our time with him and love to have him home! He is such a fun dad and a wonderful husband too! Here is a little summary of what we did while he was home...

We spent one morning at the Calgary Zoo. It was so much fun! Atticus liked seeing the all of the animals. But he really just loved having all the space to run around. He loves to be outside and the weather is finally warming up so we can spend time outside. It was a beautiful day!

In the stroller, ready to go!

Watching the fish. The twins were in awe.

Playing on the very cool zoo playground.

His favorite part!

In the Kangaroo pouch! A very cute photo op.

We had a very long cuddle-nap with miss Avah-Lynn. That hasn't happened in many, many months! I LOVED it!

It was even warm enough to play out in the yard one day!

We had the twins' ears pierced! They did so good! And I haven't been asked if they're boys since then! lol
We made sure Avah-Lynn had her teddy bear with her.

Cute!

Hadley was fine but Avah-Lynn was upset for a while.

Daddy even took Atticus skating for the first time! I stayed home with the twins. Apparently he did really good and skated for a while on his own. Of course I requested pictures! He's so cute in his little helmet!

We were so sad to see him go. The visit was over way too fast. I'm glad we planned such a fun, stress-free time together even though there is so much chaos in our life at the moment. To have so little time together, it really makes a difference to make it quality time.

Popsicles Anyone?

Atticus has had a cough for about a week now. When he woke up this morning, I noticed he was having trouble breathing... It mostly just sounded like he didn't want to breathe in because it would make him cough. (I do that too when I have a cough.)

After breakfast we were sitting reading a book together and I realized he was breathing really fast as though he had been running around or something. He does have Asthma so I gave him a dose of his rescue inhaler. No improvement. I tried calling his doctor but they couldn't get him an appointment today. Our doctor's office is also a Walk-in Clinic so I decided to just take him there. We had to wait for the babies to wake up from their morning nap to go.

By the time the babies woke up, Atticus could barely finish a sentence without having to gasp for breath. So right away I decided to rush him to the hospital instead of going to the Walk-in.

So we get to the Children's hospital and I rushed him into Emergency. There was quite a line up when we got there. A triage nurse was going through the line up to give out numbers and triage forms. When I told her why we were there, she put a monitor on him to see his vital signs and his pulse ox. was down to 83. She said Oh My God! Which really freaked me out! lol

She took us back behind the triage desk where someone (A doctor or nurse) Picked him up and bolted out of the room with him. The nurse told me to follow him. And he was running!!  It was like a crazy ER scene where they basically plopped him on a bed and put all these monitors and machines and masks on him. There were people rushing around everywhere. I was so nervous and scared! I really wasn't expecting that to happen.

As soon as his pulse ox. was back up, A respiratory therapist came in with some inhalers for him. With Atticus screaming the entire time, he did 5 puffs from each inhaler every 20 minutes. This took about two hours to do. The respiratory therapist should NOT have been working with kids. He was so bad with Atticus. Just stern and straight to the point. Atticus didn't like  him at all. He also gave him some oral steroids which apparently tasted really bad. So that didn't help the situation at all.

Then some other doctors did another assessment and he had turned the corner. He was so much better than when we got there. They sent him down for an X RAY. He was really good for that. The nurse had stickers! lol

It turns out He has pneumonia mostly in his right lung. He has been put on Antibiotics for 10 days and oral steroids for the next two days. He also has to take his preventative inhaler 2x a day now.

It was such a challenging day. This was Atticus' first trip to the ER. It was rough. The fact that Chad left yesterday made it even harder on all of us. The twins were so good. The just sat there in the stroller making eyes at all of the nurses and eating their snacks. All of the staff were  totally in love with them.

They kept us a little longer just to watch Atticus. So he got to sit in bed eating popsicles and watching Treehouse. I'd rather not disclose the number of popsicles he got was able to get from the nurses. Let's just say his face was a rainbow when we left and that stuff doesn't come off!! lol And now he calls it The Popsicle Place.
