One month.

My baby girl is One month old already! Where the time goes, I have no idea. It seems like just yesterday I was bugging my midwife for an induction.

I am often asked how I do it with four kids 3 and under. My secret is having the perfect fourth baby!

We have spent the past month as a family getting to know our newest member. She is so quiet and loves to sleep so it's hard to figure out her personality. Although, her awake time is getting longer now. We brought the activity mat for her and she spends short periods of time on there during the day. Happiest on her tummy but can roll onto her back already so we have to keep rolling her back.

Her nickname we have given her is Snacker. She snacks all day long. Eating for about 5 minutes here and there. I don't mind it though. For me, it beats sitting down for 45 minutes at a time.

Her best friend is her soother. Gumdrop soothers in particular. She is quite the sucker.  Actually, she was born with an open blister on her hand from sucking in the womb. Her poor little hand! That just goes to show you how desperate she is. (And why we introduced the soother!) She was also born with a strawberry-colored birthmark on the top of her head. Very cute and unique too!

As far as night sleep goes, I'm totally spoiled! She wakes once a night for about 10 minutes for a snack and snuggles and then she goes straight back to sleep. There has only been two nights since she was born that she was awake more than once during the night. One of them being last night. It's pretty amazing though.

We are totally in love!

Oh my, how you have grown.

In just two short months, my twin girls are going to be two.

2 years old! And I just can't believe it.

When I think about it, I feel like my breath has been taken away.  A lump forms in my throat. I can't believe how fast it has gone.

They are at a stage where they are growing by leaps and bounds. I find myself thinking "how did you figure that out?!" many times a day. Or turning to Chad to say " Do you know what Hadley/Avah-Lynn just did?!"

Guess what they've been up to recently... Potty training themselves!
That's right! I kept telling them that I wasn't ready. I just had a new baby! I wasn't ready for this!
But sure enough, Atticus was going to the bathroom in the toilet. Why not them. Right?

Well I finally admitted to myself that it was time to get rid of the diapers.

Diapers are GONE! And it feels amazing to have only one in diapers for the first time in years!

We took them to pick out some panties last week. They are so cute!

Hopelessly Domestic

This is a tormenting personality trait for me. Honestly, sometimes I wish I could just laze around on the couch all day. Or cook a meal that comes in a box. Sadly I am not that kind of person. And sometimes I really wear myself out.

Do you know what I did this morning before my older kids woke up?

Got up with the baby at 6am, fed her and put her back to sleep. Made hamburger bun dough and left the buns to rise. Folded two huge baskets of laundry an put two more loads in the washer/dryer. All that before Atticus and the twins got up at 7:30.

Do you know what I was thinking while I nursed Emadaie at 6? I was thinking how much I was looking forward to folding the particular load of laundry that was sitting in the dryer.

Today is Saturday. Why couldn't I have just stayed in bed and slept?

Have I always been like this? No. Definitely not.

I could have said yes but I'm sure my father who raised me as a teenager would have something to say about that. (Hi Dad!)

In conversation with other moms, the topic of how much they hate domestic stuff; cooking, laundry, cleaning etc. usually will come up and I grow quiet. How do you explain that you love doing things normal people hate? The only answer I have ever been given...

I am meant to be a Stay at Home Mom. Whatever that means.

Siblings...
